Oil City offensive guard Corey Tarr was named to the Northwest Athletic Conference's first-team all-star football squad for the 2003 season.
Tarr, a 5-9, 175-pound senior, was an honorable mention selection as a junior before moving up to the elite group.
"I was really, really happy for Corey Tarr," Oiler coach Bill Heber told The Derrick.
Tarr's blocking helped the Oilers rush for 1,969 yards and average five yards per carry.
Gaining the majority of those yards and earning second-team All-NWAC selections were senior running backs Jamail Jackson and Corey Schwab.
Jackson led the Oilers with 826 yards rushing and a 6.4 yards per carry average. Schwab finished with 519 yards rushing and a team-high 12 touchdowns. He repeated as a second-team choice at running back.
Joining them as a second-team selection was senior outside linebacker Matt Kulinski.
Heber declined to be critical of the selection process, offering, "the voting at these things is such that you go in hoping for some things and you leave without being satisfied."
Selected to the honorable mention list for the Oilers were Schwab (safety), Cody O'Brien (quarterback), Mason Marsh (inside linebacker) and Ian Bialo (cornerback).
