Notes and Stats

Pete Dabrowski threw 3 TD passes on the season and scored another on a 60-yard interception return against Franklin...The Oilers' last TD of the season, a 1-yard run by Dennis Mylarski, came after Dabrowski passed 25 yards to Ron Frazier to the Hickory 6 and then guard Steve Maher pulled out of the line and ran the ball to the 1...

Converted guard Jack Deets threw a 39-yard TD pass to Ed Chalot against Warren...One game later senior guard Fred Karns moved to the backfield and gained 21 yards on two carries off Statue of Liberty plays...

Deets, a sophomore, was the top ground gainer on the season...Coach Blair Hildebrand called tackle Bill Manby the most improved player on the team and its inspirational leader. Rival coach Lou Hanna of Corry said his backs coulndn't run against Manby, a 6-0, 200-pounder. "We couldn't trap him at all and failed to gain over our short side," Hanna said...

The Oilers were victimized by some big individual games by opponents: Ross Kramer passed for 4 TDs, including 3 to Dick White ocvering 46, 20 and 25 yards, for Warren...Butch Conrad scored 5 TDs on runs of 10, 10, 20, 40 and 10 yards and finished with 267 yards rushing for Franklin...John Crumbacker threw for 3 touchdowns for Hickory...
