Notes and Stats

Nick Woods scored two touchdowns in the opening quarter -- one on a pass reception and the other on a blocked punt -- to spark the Oilers over East and give new coach Bill Heber his first victory...It was the first time the Oilers scored on a blocked punt since Alan Ruth did it in 1982...Woods also had three sacks, two solo tackles -- one for a loss --  seven assists and forced two fumbles...Jack Watson added eight assists and caused another fumble, and Corey Tarr returned a fumble 25 yards for a TD...Jamail Jackson's first varsity carry resulted in a 90-yard touchdown, which tied Eric McDay for third-longest in school history...

The Oilers led Warren 7-0 and 13-7, but the Dragons converted three fumbles into TDs for the victory...Warren's 354 yards rushing was the most its had ever gained against the Oilers...The Oilers rallied from a 20-6 third quarter deficit to beat Central...Jackson's 1-yard TD run with 1:19 left was the difference....The big play during the 53-yard, five and a half-minute marsh was a 12-yard bootleg by QB Cody O'Brien on fourth down to the Central 25...The Oilers limited Vincent to 115 yards total offense and registered 10 tackles for losses in their home opener...

The Oilers piled up a 27-0 lead before Meadville scored...It was 19-0 with just under five minutes left when Heber began substituting...Eventual Northwest Conference champion Titusville beat the Oilers for the third straight season, but Oil City scored its first points against the Rockets since 1999 when Jackson hit paydirt from the 5 in the third quarter...The Rockets led 20-0 by halftime...

Jackson and Schwab each scored a TD against Brookville...O'Brien's 54-yard pass to Mike Karnish and Eric Sabin's kick tied the game 7-7 in the second half...The Oilers went ahead to stay on Jackson's 18-yard run that capped a 29-yard drive after a fake punt by the Blue Raiders failed...Schwab later scored from the 3...

Schwab scored three TDs on runs of 2 and 42 yards and a 30-yard pass from O'Brien against DuBois...O'Brien also threw a 44-yard scoring pass to Karnish...O'Brien passed for a career-high 122 yards...Sabin also scored for the Oilers during the Senior Night game, and rushed for a season-high 63 yards...Their 386 yards total offense was the most ever by the Oilers against a District 9 team...

Jackson's 201 yards rushing on 17 carries sparked the Oilers past Franklin...He scored on a 10-yard fumble recovery and a 91-yard run from scrimmage,  the third-longest in Oiler history...

His TD run was the longest ever for an Oiler against Franklin, and his rushing total was the most ever against the Knights....Bobby McFadden ran for a 73-yard TD against the Knights 1952, and Paul Mitcham rushed for 194 yards against them in 1937...

Schwab added 103 yards and scored on a 3-yard run following a Joe Sundo fumble recovery as the Oilers finished with 359 yards on the ground, which ranks No. 2 all-time against Franklin and No. 4 overall...

The game was played in a steady rain...Franklin lost four fumbles -- Woods and Wes Paxton had the other recoveries -- and Karnish picked off a pass, his ninth career interception...Sabin finished his career with 26 kicks for extra points, second on the Oilers' all-time list...
