Feb. 9, 1971. Mike Emick scored a school-record 56 points in the basketball team's 121-48 romp over Rocky Grove.
It was reported that the 6-4 Emick broke Tom Mix's school-record 45 points set the season before against Corry.
Au contraire.
As it turns out, Al Foster scored 51 points in the Oilers' 105-14 drubbing of Titusville on Feb. 8, 1918.

The Oilers made 49 field goals against Titusville (Dale Lash added 14 and finished with 28 points) in what is probably their most lopsided victory ever.
They made 46 baskets and were 29 of 41 from the line against Rocky Grove in what was probably their highest-scoring game ever.
Here's the team's score by quarters as compared to Emick's score by quarters:

Emick sat out 5:30 of the game, but tied the Section 2 single-game scoring record set by Meadville's Lloyd Sharrar on Jan. 19 1954 against Franklin. Emick was a thorn in the side to the Grove that season, scoring 22 points and grabbing 32 rebounds in a 94-39 trouncing of the Orioles on Jan. 8, 1971.
